The Magic of the Unknown… and Advice from Mom
Nick was born and raised just outside Atlanta, Georgia, and was obsessed with entertainment and storytelling from an early age. Saturday morning cartoons, the Three Stooges, and evening sitcoms captured his attention and imagination, but it was horror movies (watched perhaps a bit too soon for an 8-year-old) that truly fascinated him. Young Nick spent hours staring at the posters and spooky VHS tape covers in his local video rental shop, which inevitably earned him some pretty vivid nightmares.
Seeing Nick struggle with being afraid, Nick’s mom Deborah gave him a piece of advice that would change his trajectory: "Nicholas, there are people who work behind the scenes to make those monsters. They make those movies for your entertainment. They want you to enjoy it.”
That simple thought flipped a switch. Nick suddenly realized that what scared him was actually the result of masterful craft, creative vision, and clever design. To help Nick channel this new curiosity, Deborah took him to the local library, where the librarians pointed him to the 700s section—a wonder-filled shelf packed with books on the secrets of filmmaking, special effects, horror makeup, puppetry, theatre, and magic. He stopped being afraid and became completely obsessed with the art of illusion, presentation, and perception.
Fast-forward to today. That early obsession with how things work behind the scenes has shaped Nick’s career as an entertainment professional. Today, he uses those same principles of illusion and psychology to design world-class entertainment and immersive experiences. Nick’s show is the direct result of an vivid imagination, a thirst for continuous learning, and a lifelong desire to create shared joy and wonder.
